Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu has inaugurated the (Committee on Scheduling of Modalities on Clearance of Arrears of Salaries, Pensions and Allowances) to Civil Servants and Pensioners in the State.
Gov Ikpeazu while inaugurating the Eight Man Committee that has the State Head Of Service, Sir Onyi Wamah as the Chairman yesterday at the Government House Umuahia, gave the Committee 14 working days to complete their assignment by coming up with modalities and recommendations that would make owing of salaries, pensions and allowances a thing of the past in the State.
The Governor represented by his Deputy Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, used the occasion to reaffirm his determination to sustain the robust relationship with Labor Leaders in the task of taking Abia to the next level of development.
Responding on behalf of other members of the Committee, the Chairman and State Head Of Service, Sir Onyi Wammah assured Government that they will work diligently and effectively to ensure that they come out with workable recommendations that will put to rest issues of all outstanding salaries, pensions and allowances in the State and thanked Government for finding them worthy to serve.
Correspondent Godwin Ike reports that the Members of the Committee who are made up of labour leaders and Government officials include the Permanent Secretary, Bureau Of Establishment, Elder Okey Ihedioha, the State Accountant General, Comrade Kelechi Imeoria, the General Manager, Abia State Passengers Integrated Manifest Scheme, Dr ACB Agbazuere representing government.
Representatives of Labor Unions are Chairman Nigerian Labor Congress, Comrade Uchenna Obigwe, the State Chairman of Trade Union Congress, Comrade Sunny Onwuma, among others.
