Abia government re-iterates readiness to tackle corona virus

Abia State Government says it is one hundred percent prepared ahead of other states to contain any possible outbreak of the dreaded Coronavirus in the state.

The State commissioner for Health, Dr Joe Osuji and his Information counterpart, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, yesterday, conducted newsmen round one of the two Isolation centers equipped by the state government at Amachara General Hospital, Umuahia.

According to the health commissioner, Joe Osuji, the facility has Doctors, Consulting room, Laboratory, Dolphin room, changing room, Nurses’ stations, male and female Isolation wards, x-ray room and additional one hundred bed facility in cases of spill over, adding that an additional one would be established in Abia North senatorial zone.

Contributing, the commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, announced that Governor Ikpeazu has directed the commissioner for Finance, Dr Aham Uko to commence the payment of March salaries to Abia workers and pensioners which would be concluded Monday next week to enable them sustain themselves and advised those intending to donate Health facilities to follow Health guidelines provided by the state ministry of Health.

While displaying sample Collection Park, the state Epidemiologist, Lady Peace Nwogwugwu said those eligible to undergo Covid 19 test include those who exhibit symptoms such as cough, difficulty in breathing among others.
