Former Nigeria International Odion Ighalo said his nomination for the CAF African Player of the Year award and reaching the top 10 nominees is a “privilege”.
Ighalo was the top goalscorer at the 2019 AFCON in Egypt and his exploits with Nigeria in particular earned him a place in the shortlist that also has Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Riyad Mahrez.
He told Newsmen that the recognition coming a year after a disappointing World Cup in Russia, was an honour.
