Governor Okezie Ikpeazu to inaugurate Automated Shoe Factory in Abia State by December


Governor Okezie Ikpeazu says the Automated Shoe Factory in Abia State would be inaugurate by December this year.

Governor Ikpeazu stated when he received the Coordinator of National Youth Service Corps, (NYSC), in Abia, Mrs Bona Fasakin who paid him a visit at the Government House.

According to Governor, the Automated Shoe Factory would address the issue of achieving consistency in quality and quantity of shoes manufactured in the state and would also play a pivotal role in tackling unemployment and boosting the internally generated revenue of the state.

He charged Corp members to engage in ventures that will enable them acquire entrepreneurial skills during their service year.

The Governor described the main stay of the state as trade and commerce, adding that he would be glad if entrepreneurship became part of every Corp member’s skills in Abia.

Governor Ikpeazu further noted that the state Government would deploy the necessary resources to rehabilitate the infrastructures at the NYSC orientation camp in Bende Local Government Area of the State, adding that Part of the resources would be released to carryout intervention measures to check erosion menace and provide steady power supply in the area.

Earlier, Mrs Fasakin thanked the state Government for the cordial relationship between the state government and the agency.

She highlighted the need to constitute a State governing board as well as prompt regular payment of subventions and state allowance to Corp members.

She also used the occasion to draw the attention of the Governor to the Erosion menace ravaging the camp including poor power supply in the camp, adding that it might lead to the withdrawal of the state’s hosting rights.
