Governor Okezie Ikpeazu calls for media support


Governor Okezie Ikpeazu says to achieve sustainable development in the state all relevant stakeholders in the media industry and non-governmental organizations must work together in synergy with the government.

Governor lkpeazu who was speaking during the 2019 Media Summit of the Nigeria Union Of Journalists, Abia State Council held yesterday at the Michael Okpara Auditorium Umuahia, acknowledged the immense role and contributions of the media in the development of democracy and nation building.

The Governor, represented by his Deputy, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, commended the NUJ and the media for the wonderful publicity of activities of the present administration.

He vowed that his administration would partner the state NUJ and other reputable media organizations to grow the state’s economy.

Earlier, the state chairman of NUJ, Comrade John Emejor, disclosed that journalists in the state had resolved to remain professional in the discharge of their constitutional duties by not indulging in the dissemination of false or hate messages.

Correspondent Godwin Ike reports that highpoint of the event was the conferment of an award to the Governor as the Grand Patron of the Nigeria Union of Journalists Abia Council for his leadership performance.

Others conferred with awards at the event include, the member representing ohafia North state constituency, Chief Mandela Obasi, Rev Joseph Omaegbu among others.
