Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs, Donald Omotoye has assured that the Federal Government is ready to work closely with Abia State Government to ensure peace and progress in the oil producing Areas in the State
The Minister was speaking when he and his delegation from the Ministry paid a courtesy visit to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu on Monday at the government house in Umuahia.
Mr Omotoye disclosed that they were in the State to dialogue with the people of Ukwa West Local Government Area on various issues regarding development as well as seek their consent on other projects they intend to carry out in the area.
Responding, the State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, represented by his deputy Sir Ude Okochukwu, stressed the need for the Ministry and the National Assembly to present budgets and appropriate number of projects in the budget the Ministry can carry for a given period of time.
He called on the Ministry to give proper attention to the various ongoing projects in the State especially, the once around Ukwa West axis and other projects like the Obehe-Azumini-Ukanafon road, skill acquisition Centre, housing scheme among others. Correspondent Godwin Ike reports that the commissioner for science and technology, Chijioke Madumere and his corporative and rural development counterpart, Ezekwesiri Ananaba including the ASOPADEC Chairman among others were present during the visit.
