Abia state Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu says the State is ready for the proposed building of Modular Refinery in the State by Eskom Plc.
The Governor disclosed this on Monday while addressing a delegation of management team of Eskom Plc. led by a business mogul Chief Jerry Kalu and the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the company, Chief Ifeanyi Orjiako, who came on courtesy visit in Government House, Umuahia.
Governor Ikpeazu assured the team that his administration would provide the needed ambience and support for the actualization of the project in the State.
He said the only way forward in the State is to create jobs for people, saying that he is focusing on agriculture and industrialization, as they key ways of creating jobs so as to boost the economy of the State, as its population has been projected to increase greatly by 2030.
The State Governor, who informed that oil & gas is one of the five pillars of development of his administration, expressed confidence that by the visit, the project would be a success as the State would partner them
In their speeches earlier, the leader of the delegation, Chief Jerry Kalu and MD/CEO Eskom Plc., Chief Ifeanyi Orjiako stated that they came to intimate the Governor that Eskom is poised to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the state government on the building and establishment of a Modular Refinery in the State.
They informed that their company and its team of investors are active in energy, real estate construction, oil & gas and other related businesses, noting that they were excited about bringing the project to Abia State because of the passion Governor Ikpeazu has in economic development and requested the cooperation of the State.
