The Chief of staff to the Governor, Dr A.C.B Agbazuere has called on cattle herders and farmers in the state to eschew any act of violence capable of breaching the existing peace in the state.
Dr Agbazuere who stated this when he received in audience, members of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association Of Nigeria, Abia State Chapter in his office at the Government House Umuahia, urged them to be ambassadors of peace in their respective host communities.
The Chief of staff while describing Abia as one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria, disclosed that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has set up mediation committees at the state and local government areas to check farmland destructions and killing of cows in order to avoid cases of farmer/herders clashes in the state.
In their response, the chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association Of Nigeria, Abia State Chapter, Alhaji Hassan Buba speaking on behalf of his members, said they came to present their leaders in the state to the government.
They appreciated Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for the relative peace they enjoy so far.
