Super Falcons Interim Coach, Christopher Danjuma has apologized for the reigning African champion’s inability to qualify for next year’s Olympics game in Tokyo.
The girls were held to a 1-1 draw by Cote d’Ivoire at the Agege stadium in Lagos on Monday to bow out on the away goal rule after the first leg ended goalless in Abidjan last week.
The Falcons have been missing from the Olympics since the Beijing Olympics in 2008 but Coach Danjuma says it was not the intention of the girls to miss out again.
Meanwhile, Captain of the Super Falcons, Asisat Oshoala says the team were simply unlucky against the Ivoirians but then she is proud of the effort put into the game by her team mates.
