South East Governors’ Forum denies meeting in Abakiliki

South East Governors’ Forum

The South East Governors’ Forum has denied that it met in Abakiliki and warned the Federal Government for allegedly killing members of the Indigenous People of Biafra.

A report circulating in the media had claimed that the five South-East governors met in Abakaliki on September 6, 2017 and called on the Federal Government to put to a stop the incessant killings, brutal torture and unlawful imprisonment of innocent IPOB members by the military.

However, a statement signed by Professor Simon Ortuanya, Director-General and Michael Udah Director, Media and Communication of the Forum said the report was intended to undermine the milestone already recorded by the governors.

According to the statement, Governor Dave Umahi, chairman of the Forum was outside the country at the time the story of the warning was circulating, describing the story as a figment of the imagination of the author.
