The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has asked Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje to publicly reject what it described as ‘fat pension’ for members of the Kano State House of Assembly.
SERAP made the request in a letter dated May 10 and signed by its deputy director, Kolawole Oluwadare.
The organisation urged the governor to use his good office and position to reject life pensions and brand-new vehicles for lawmakers following a bill passed by House.
SERAP also asked Ganduje to prevail on the lawmakers to immediately drop the bill and carry out their functions as spelt in the Constitution.
According to SERAP, should the governor assent to the bill as passed, it will take legal action nationally and internationally to hold his administration to account.
