The Nigerian senate yesterday expressed displeasure over the kidnap of over 300 kankara Government science school boys, and in a bid to finding a solution of the rising insecurities, they summoned the Defence Minister alongside Service chiefs to explain the measures being taken to tackle the situation.
The Visibly unhappy lawmakers expressed concern over the President’s continuous silence on the matter and his decision to retain the service chiefs.
Senator Bello Madiya, Kastina South and Senator Abubakar Kyari, Borno North, asked the President to reconsider his decision.
Senator Biodun Oluyimi, Ekiti South, on her part sought more drastic measures, suggesting the Senate withholds the passage of 2021 budget until the worsening insecurity is nipped in the bud.
Meanwhile, President of the Senate Ahmed Lawan urged his colleagues not to relent in their quest to make the Country’s security Architecture more responsive to tackling the current threat to National Security.
