Manchester City have confirmed the signing of Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City for a reported £60million.
Mahrez joins the English Premier League champions on a five-year deal and becomes Manchester City’s record signing six months after the club splashed £57m on Aymeric Laporte from Athletic Bilbao.
The Algeria international almost signed for Manchester City at the end of the January transfer window, only for the move to fall through on deadline day.
Mahrez said the club’s style of play is “perfect” for him and he wanted to be part of a club which is “redefining the English game”.
The 27 year old has been handed the jersey No.26 and will be unveiled to fans of Manchester City at West Reception of the Colin Bell Stand on Thursday.
Mahrez played a huge part of the Leicester City’s during the 2015-16 season title triumph and was named the PFA Player’s Player of the Year that season.
