Police DIG warns members of the Nigerian police to play by the rules


Just hours to the Country’s Governorship and state Assembly elections, the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the Force CID, Anthony Ogbizi has warned members of the Nigerian police to play by the rules.

Ogbizi who is in charge of election security in the South East States, gave this warning in Umuahia, the State Capital, during an interactive session with security agencies and political party leaders, to review the issues of security in the last presidential and National Assembly elections.

While observing that the forthcoming elections will be more challenging considering the number of candidates involved, the DIG warned that anybody who attempts to disrupt the exercise will be dealt with in accordance with the law.

Ogbizi while calling on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to live up to their expectations, warned that no candidate is expected to move around with security men during the exercise.

Correspondent Nnenna Gabriel reports that during the interactive session which attracted heads of all security agencies in the State, issues bordering on security and electoral logistics and operational challenges were raised.
