National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) says over 400 cases of violence against women and girls were recorded in Anambra State from January to November, 2020.
The State Coordinator, Mrs Nkechi Ugwuanyi, disclosed this in her message in commemoration of 16 days of activism on the Elimination of Violence against Women and Girls.
She said some of the cases were recorded during visits to detention facilities while several others were officially launched in her office.
She, however, assured that the Commission would not rest on its oars until the incidents were reduced to the barest minimum in the State.
The Chairman, Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Ihiala Chapter, Bar. Vitalis Ihedigbo, said the bar was ready to play its expected roles towards nipping in the bud, violence against women and girls
He noted that professional and thorough investigations by the Police were always strong bases for getting justice for victims of violence.
