Nigerians optimistic of winning the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup

Sand Eagles captain, Abu Azeez has expressed confidence the team will do well at this year’s FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.

Azeez was reacting to the outcome of the World Cup draws held last weekend which put Nigeria against Brazil, Portugal and Oman.

The Beach Soccer star, in a chat with Magic FM said he believes the draw was a good one for Nigeria and thinks that if they could emerge from the group stage with the heavyweights.

He pointed out that five-time champions Brazil were currently the best side in the sport, but believes they know what they would be up against.

Nigeria’s best finish at the tournament was in 2011, where the team reached the quarter-finals.

The Sand Eagles are making their sixth appearance at the world cup and will open their campaign against Portugal, on November 22.

Group A- Paraguay, Japan, Switzerland, United States.

Group B- Tahiti, Uruguay, Mexico, Italy

Group C- Russia, Belarus, Senegal, United Arab Emirates

Group D- Brazil, Portugal, Oman, Nigeria
