Nigerian Police set to announce new replacement after the dissolution of SARS

Following the protracted protest against the activities of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), the Inspection General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has announced the dissolution of the Squad.

Adamu made the announcement of the dissolution on Sunday, days after widespread protests demanding the scrapping of the unit over allegations of brutality and human rights violations.

Meanwhile, a statement by Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Frank Mba, disclosed that a new policing arrangement to address anticipated policing gaps the dissolution of SARS would cause has been evolved and would be announced in due course.
