Super Eagles defender, Leon Balogun, has spoken tough ahead of Nigeria’s 2022 FIFA World Cup playoff against the Black Stars of Ghana on Friday.
Balogun said he would ‘leave rivalry aside’ when the Super Eagles tackle Ghana in Kumasi.
The Rangers star, who stated this on Tuesday, said he wants to go to the World Cup in Qatar, adding that that is all that matters for him.
“I tried to leave the rivalry pretty much aside,” Balogun was quoted by Super Eagles’ official Instagram account as saying.
“Without saying that I don’t respect the rivalry, but for me personally in my preparation for the game, it doesn’t matter too much.
“Because for me, is where do I want to go with the team, and that is the World Cup.”
Meanwhile, after Friday’s match, Nigeria will host Ghana in the return leg in Abuja four days later.
