Nigeria captain, John Obi Mikel, has joined Turkish club, Trabzonspor, on a two-year deal with an option for another year.
The 32-year-old joined as a free agent from Middlesbrough, after his short-term deal ran out at the end of last season.
Mikel Obi will earn about 4 million euros (about N1.6billion) for the entire length of the deal.
However, the midfielder is insisting that he signed for them, because “it’s a good project” and they will be “playing in the Europa League”.
Mikel Obi increases the number of Nigerians at the club to three, joining midfielder Ogenyi Onazi and forward Anthony Nwakaeme.
Trabzonspor finished fourth in the Turkish Super Lig last season, just four points off Champions League qualification.
