Newly inaugurated Special Youth Task Force checkmates sporting activities in the State

Abia State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development in company of the newly inaugurated Special Youth Task Force in checkmating all sporting activities in the State, yesterday, embarked on a tour to different schools in Umuahia to disperse Youths playing football on the school fields.

The Schools visited include; Ibeku High School, World Bank Primary School, School road Primary School, Ugwunchara primary school and Amuzukwu Girls Secondary School all in Umuahia.

Speaking after the tour, the Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Chief Emeka Ikwuagwu, said the tour was embarked on because the sports activities by the youths contravenes the WHO protocols and Government directives on mitigating the spread of Coronavirus in the state.

Responding on behalf of the football teams at different locations, Chikezie Njoku, Okechukwu Julius, Michael Seracus and Emma Ukegbu while requesting for assistance of Palliatives, appreciated Governor Ikpeazu, in his effort in combating coronavirus and promised to be of good behavior by complying with all covid-19 protocols issued by the Government.

Correspondent Godwin Ike reports that the special task force which is made up of different paramilitary groups had the permanent Secretary of the ministry, Friday Ikpeoha as the chairman.
