Following Magic FM’s report on the invasion of hoodlums in some schools in Abia, where they sale and consume drugs, the National Drug Law enforcement Agency at the weekend raided and nabbed a suspect at the Okigwe Road Primary school.

Speaking to Magic FM’s correspondent, Ifeanyi Igwe after the raid, the assistant commander of narcotics, NDLEA Abia state, Kenneth Ofor said the success of the operation was possible through painstaking intelligence gathering and surveillance.

Ofor said school premises serve the need for learning and recreation and not home for drug peddlers and consumers, warning that sophisticated surveillance mechanism has been deployed by the agency in the state, to curb drug related criminal activities.

Meanwhile, the suspect, Chibuike Uzozie said he was a repentant marijuana dealer and cannot explain what lured him back into the drug market.

The 19-year-old Anambra indigene blamed idleness for his renewed appetite for drugs, begging that he should be pardoned.

Magic FM’s further investigation revealed that the suspects was born to a single mother who is a trader and resides at Erurakpa road Aba.

The middle aged mother of three who preferred to speak off tape, told our correspondent that she has done everything within her power to prevent her son from depending on drugs,

She appealed to NDLEA to also arrest the drug lords who according to her, are in the habit luring younger people to sale the drugs for them.
