Dealers of motorcycle spare parts in Nnewi, Anambra state have lamented over the setback their business would suffer as a result of the ban on the activities of commercial motorcycle operators in the state.
The traders also begged Governor Willie Obiano to rescind his ban on Okada riders in the state which comes into effect on July 1, 2018.
The traders explained that the ban would also stifle businesses in the state, and cause a flop in economic activities.
While acknowledging that some criminals used motorcycle operators to rob people at gunpoint, the dealers said the solution in the circumstance was not outright ban of the transport system.
Also speaking, the Secretary of New Auto Spare Parts Association, Uche Ezechukwu warned that over 20,000 people would become jobless if the order was not rescinded.
