The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared the gubernatorial election in Plateau State inconclusive.
The Returning Officer, Prof. Richard Anande, said the election was declared inconclusive because the difference between the two major contenders, APC and PDP was less than the votes cancelled.
Anande said the incumbent Governor and APC candidate Simon Lalong got 583, 255 votes, while his closest rival and candidate of the main opposition PDP, Senator Jeremiah Useni, got 538, 326 votes.
According to him, because the difference between the two major contenders is 44, 929 is less than the cancelled votes of 49, 347, that’s why a winner cannot be declared.
Also the governorship election of Bauchi State has been declared as inconclusive.
The Returning Officer for the state, Prof. Mohammed Kyari, made the announcement yesterday saying that the PDP candidate, Sen. Bala Mohammed got 469, 512 votes to defeat his closest rival, the APC Candidate, incumbent Governor, Mohammed Abubakar, came very close with 465, 453 votes.
Similarly Benue State governorship election was also declared inconclusive.
This was declared by the Benue State Collation Officer, Prof. Sabastine Maimaiko on Monday.
