Imo state governor, Emeka Ihedioha appoints Kanu Nwankwo

Former Arsenal player, Kanu Nwankwo has been appointed Senior Special Assistant on Sports to the Imo state governor, Emeka Ihedioha.

This was contained in a statement disclosed by Izuchukwu Akwarandu, new media aide to the governor to Newsmen yesterday.

Born 1 August 1976, Papilo, as fondly called, founded the Kanu Heart Foundation (KHF) which has saved hundreds of lives.

Kanu played for Iwuanyanwu Nationale, Dutch side Ajax, Inter Milan of Italy, and English clubs Arsenal, West Bromwich Albion and Portsmouth.

He won a UEFA Champions League medal, a UEFA Cup medal, three FA Cup Winners Medals and two African Player of the Year awards amongst others.

The retired soccer star is one of few players to have won the Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League, UEFA Cup and an Olympic Gold Medal.

Kanu is also a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.
