House of Representative committee on Nigeria Army and Security visits Abia State

A delegation of the House of Representative committee on Nigeria Army and Security led by the chairman, Hon. Rimamde Shawulu kwewum, has visited Abia State for an oversight tour of Army formations across the six geopolitical zones of the country

Speaking while on courtesy visit to the Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu at the Government house Umuahia, the chairman of the committee said the house committee in collaboration with the senate started off the tour this week to see the state of working tools and level of infrastructure in the Army so as to conclude the budget circle which started with the transmission of the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) by the President to the two Chambers of the National Assembly

He added that they observed as they go round the country that all the activities the Army has embarked on has to do with internal security which was not part of its responsibility following the nature and change of security threat around the world

Responding, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu extolled the enormous roles the Nigeria Army has played in the State, he revealed that the State government has had a wonderful relationship with the Army and has anchored its policy Pillars on certain cardinal policy where there will be competitive and comparative advantage

The Governor represented by his deputy, Ude Oko Chukwu, said, his government will tackle unemployment through the improvement of small and medium scale enterprises in the State.

He further requested the delegation to pay more attention in improving the 14 Brigade because of its service to the state
