Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, on Thursday said President Muhammadu Buhari has an opportunity to address the demands of the people or put the country “on fire”.
His comment comes days after the federal government met with leaders of the South-South region.
At the meeting, the South-South leaders demanded the restructuring of Nigeria, in line with the principle of true federalism.
The Governor also insisted the current style of contract execution by the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, was not working.
He said there was need to carry the governors of the Niger Delta States along in the process of contracts award and execution, because as the Chief Executive Officers of their states, they could identify areas of need in the region.
