Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has sworn-in Justice Stella Maris Ururuka Onyenso as the substantive President of the State Customary Court of Appeal with a charge for her to protect the vulnerable and voiceless in the discharge of her duties.
Speaking shortly after administering the oaths of office and allegiance on the new President by the State Solicitor General, Lady Uzoamaka Ikonne at the Government House, Umuahia, Governor Ikpeazu emphasized the need for the new President to support the State government in ensuring justice gets to the people of the state.
Governor Ikpeazu, who expressed hope that she would discharge her duties creditably, appealed to her colleagues to support her to succeed and congratulated her on her appointment.
In her acceptance speech, the new President Abia State Customary Court of Appeal, Justice Stella Maris Ururuka Onyenso thanked the Governor for the honor and assured that she would improve on the State Customary Court of Appeal system in the State, while calling for the cooperation of her colleagues to achieve the needed success.
It could be recalled that Justice Onyenso had been holding the office in acting capacity prior to her confirmation by both the National Judicial Council and the Abia State House of Assembly respectively.
