Governor Ikpeazu lauds Shell petroleum for partnership with the state government


Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has lauded the Shell petroleum Development Company for its continuous partnership with the state government in moving the state forward.

Governor Ikpeazu who was speaking at the formal handover of fire personal protective equipment to the state department of Fire Services donated by the Shell Nigeria Gas Limited, said the provision of the equipment is apt at this moment considering that fire outbreaks are mostly witnessed during the dry season.

The Governor represented by the commissioner for Transport, Chief Kingsley Imaga, urged the department of Fire service to make good use of the equipment for their protection in the cause of discharging their duties.

Handing over the equipment to the state government, the managing Director Shell Nigeria Gas Limited, Mr. ED UBONG said the company is among other things committed to the prevention of fire outbreak and safety of the lives of citizens.

In an address, the state comptroller, Fire Services, Mr. Victor Gbaruko, noted that the equipment will go a long way in helping them fight against the damaging effect of fire outbreak and explosion.

He said the gradual penetration of independent power stations in the state calls for concerted effort by all stakeholders in the safety industry

Correspondent Godwin Ike reports that the commissioner for women Affairs Ugoeze Kate Onyemaechi, permanent secretary Government House, among other personalities were present at the event.
