Flying Eagles got off to a flying start in the CAF Under 20 AFCON with a 2-0 defeat of Burundi on Saturday.

Nazifi Yahaya opened scoring for Nigeria in the 57th minute while Enyimba winger Maxwell Effiom came off the bench to grab the second.

The next match for the Paul Aigbogun’s led team is a tie against South Africa tomorrow Tuesday, February 5.

A Victory in the game will brighten Nigeria’s chances of picking one of the two tickets from the group.

The semifinalists from the tournament automatically qualify for the Under 20 World Youth Cup.

Nigeria will hope to qualify for the global event having missed out in 2017.

Also, after coming back from a groin injury that has kept him out since the beginning of the season, Abia Warriors midfielder, Arinze Nwangwu believes his return to full fitness will help the club end their poor run.

The lanky central midfielder who is known for his long passes also disclosed that Abia Warriors have the quality and resilience to bounce back and contend for a place in the playoff.
