The Enugu Electricity Distribution PLC (EEDC), on Sunday announced that it has commenced Meter Asset Provider (MAP) program.
It called on its customers in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo to take advantage of the initiative and get metered within 10 days of paying for the meter.
The development, it is believed, will close up the metering gap which has been a source of concern to customers.
This follows the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) approval of its MAP, Mojec International Limited, and the further directive to all distribution companies to commence implementation.
You may recall that the MAP regulation was initiated by the Federal Government and NERC last year to help hasten and close up the existing metering gap in the sector through the engagement of third party agents saddled with the responsibility of metering electricity customers.
According to EEDC Head of Communications, Emeka Ezeh, the meters will cost N36,991.50K and N67,055.85K for single phase and three phase respectively, excluding VAT.
