Traditional rulers from two local government areas of Ebonyi State, Ezza South and Ezza North LGA’s have disowned protesters who stormed the Ebonyi Government House on Monday to protest against the siting of an airport at Oruzor community of the state.
The monarchs led by the chairman of Ebonyi state traditional ruler’s council, HRH Charles Mkpuma, said the protesters are enemies of progress and did not hail from Oruzor community.
The traditional rulers made this known during a solidarity visit to the Governor at the Government House Abakaliki.
Mkpuma said the perpetrators and their sponsors will be fetched out and will pay for daring the decision of the state government to site airport in the approved community.
Governor David Umahi, while responding to the development, said work will commence at the airport site by Wednesday next week.
He declared readiness to pay full compensation to the affected persons whose land will be used for the airport, assuring that he will equally relocate them to another place.
