Abia State governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu says he appointed indigenes of Ukwa in his government because they have over the years distinguished themselves in public service.According to the governor, the people of Ukwa have contributed to the development of the state and country beyond their natural endowment.Welcoming a delegation of political leaders from Ukwa East and Ukwa West LGA’s who came to thank him for facilitating the election of one of their illustrious sons, Ambassador Okey Emuchay as the Secretary General of the Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, governor Ikpeazu described the people of Ukwa as industrious, hardworking, trustworthy, adding that they deserve every opportunity to serve the state and country.In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Onyebuchi Ememanka, the Governor further urged them to uphold those excellent virtues of hard work and dignity in public service which he said has defined their roles over the years.He also recalled the exploits of great Ukwa sons like Late Dr. Emuchay, Late Chief E C Adiele, Eze Dr. Rowland Asobie, Late Eze Dr. Feyi Waboso, Dame Victoria Akanwa, Late Chief Lambert Nmecha,Engr. Reginald Stanley, and others who played key roles in public and professional life.
