Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has charged the Judiciary to show greater concern and commitment in the fight against corruption not only in the Judicial Arm of Government, but in other Arms and the society at large.
Dr lkpeazu
gave the charge during the opening ceremony of the 2020/2021 Legal Year of the
Abia State Judiciary held at the State High Court Umuahia.
He stated that all relevant judicial institutions should intensity efforts at
formulating and providing sound and clear roadmap for the enhancement of
Justice Delivery and elimination of corrupt practices in the Judiciary.
Governor Ikpeazu, represented by his Deputy, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, reaffirmed that the present administration is committed to discharge its functions and obligations effectively for the common good of all.
Declaring the New Legal Year open, the State Chief Judge, Justice Onuoha Ogwe said integrity, honesty and fairness remains the hallmark of a judicial officer and Staff responsibly charged with the task of dealing with the public for the attainment of Governments set objectives.
Correspondent Godwin Ike reports that Highpoints of the ceremony were a Special Valedictory High Court Session in honour of retired Judges for meritoriously serving the State and Abians, presentation of speeches from the various branches of the Nigerian Bar Association in the State and observance of a minute silence for their departed colleagues.
