COUNCIL OF COMMUNITY YOUTH PRESIDENTS IN OBINGWA KICKS AGAINST ELECTORAL VIOLENCE

Council of community youth Presidents, CCYP, Obingwa chapter have frowned at the use of thugs by politicians to rig elections. This position was made known during a sensitization exercise organized by the group ahead of the 2023 elections. In his speech, Comrade Duscar Chinyere, the President-General of CCYP, in Obingwa called on the youths of the council to shun any form of election malpractices and instead vote for credible candidates that would see to the growth and development of the region. He charged those who are eighteen years and above to obtain their PVCs and be part of the voting process in 2023, stating that the council was ready to provide vehicles that would convey youths to registration centres, as that was the surest way to determining their leaders for the next four years. The council said the 2023 general elections would be a defining moment for the youths of Obingwa as they were ready to defend their votes no matter what it would take. The President-General also used the opportunity to call on the youths to shun social vices such as drug addiction, excessive alcohol intake and other activities that would endanger them. He concluded his speech with the adoption of the slogan, “Youth will decide come 2023. Our Future and our lives are in our hands. Youths are the leaders of tomorrow.” The meeting was witnessed by all the 68 autonomous communities in Obingwa.
