The Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, Abia State council on Wednesday elected new executive to pilot its affairs for the next three years.
The elected officials include Obinna Ibe, Chairman, Linus Effiong Treasurer and Jenarius Ezeru emerged the Vice Chairman.
While Steve Oko secretary, Henrietta Ashikodi financial secretary and Lawrence Nwokedi auditor were all unopposed.
The NUJ Chairman, John Emejor while inaugurating the new exco, charged them to always be professional and ethical in the discharge of their duties.
He also encouraged them to at all times serve the interest of members of the chapel, noting that the union is bigger that any individual.
In his inaugural speech, the newly elected correspondents’ chairman, Obinna Ibe said the chapel will witness total transformation, operate an open door policy as well as reconcile aggrieved members and have a formidable chapel.
Magic FM’s Nnenna Gabriel reports that the election which was free and fair had the Chairman, Obinna Ibe poll twelve votes over Chidi Asonye who had eight votes.
