No fewer than 42 people, including 27 students, were kidnapped when bandits attacked Government Science Secondary School, Kagara in Niger State.
The Niger Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Muhammad Idris, who made this known, also said the whereabouts of three teachers are unknown.
According to him, 12 family members of the teachers were also abducted during the attack.
The school principal, Aliyu Isah had confirmed to newsmen that the operation started from the staff quarters where they abducted members of staff including a couple before they gained access to the students’ hostels.
Some students who survived the attack also narrated their ordeal in the hands of the bandits.
Meanwhile, the Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello, has ordered the immediate closure of all boarding schools in the bandit ravaged areas of the state.
Governor Bello gave the directive while meeting with heads of security agencies in the state at the Government House following the Kagara school abduction.
