APGA Abia State Chapter calls for a review for the said dates of Chairmanship and Councillorship elections in the state

The All Progressive Grand Alliance in the state is condemning the position of the Abia State Independent electoral Commission by insisting that it must hold the forthcoming local council election on the 18th of December, 2020 despite strong opposition from APGA against the said date as announced, which the party communicated to ABSIEC in writing.

In a press statement, the party noted its disappointment on Prof. Mkpa Agu Mkpa led ABSIEC over its body language towards the proposed election as it has closed its eyes to genuine concerns raised.

Meanwhile, the party passed a vote of confidence on the Rev Augustine Ehiemere’s led State working Committee for his administrative acumen.

The party’s contention is that ABSIEC will definitely disenfranchise millions of eligible Abia voters by fixing and holding election within the Christmas period, when majority of eligible voters will leave their registration units/centers to their respective villages/communities for Christmas celebration.

They also challenged Prof. Mkpa to review the outrageous fees of N400,000 and N100,000 as ABSIEC fees for Chairmanship and Councillorship candidates respectively and the date he announced for the election be reviewed as well.

Rev Ehiemere also refuted the allegations that APGA Umuahia North Chapter has collapsed into APC.
