Afaraukwu leaders demands return of their traditional Ruler, Eze Isreal Kanu

Abia State

Leaders of Afaraukwu Autonomous community in Umuahia North LGA have demanded the immediate return of their traditional Ruler, Eze Isreal Kanu, father of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu whose palace was invaded last year September by the Military.

The leaders made this known while briefing newsmen today at the palace of Eze Edward Ibeabuchi.

This follows a Joint release issued and signed by the leaders of the three communities that make up the Afaraukwu Ibeku Autonomous community namely, HRH, Eze Edward Ibeabuchi of Okwulaga, HRH Eze Philip Ukegbu of Enyiukwu Autonomous community, Alozie Irokansi Youth President Afaraukwu respectively and read by Emeka Ezebuiro President General, Afaraukwu Development Union

They noted that their attention has been drawn to publications and comments suggesting that the Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu is playing politics with the plight of their traditional Ruler whose where about is still unknown.

They therefore wish to place on record that the meeting between them and the Governor was at their instance and not the Governor, noting that it was on the basis of their request that the Governor promised to engage other South East Governors to ensure that Eze Kanu is returned to his people before the end of the year

The leaders added that they wish to state it clearly that they have never accused Governor Ikpeazu of masterminding the attack and therefore, place total confidence in his leadership hence their collective decision to endorse him for a second term in office
