Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu has called on the leadership of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria to be watchdogs in checking corrupt practices in the country.

Dr Ikpeazu who made the call when members of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) paid him a courtesy visit at Government House, Umuahia, reminded the members of the association that accountability and integrity was very important in their profession, hence the need for them to live above board in every aspect of their dealings.

The Governor, represented by his Deputy, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu expressed delight that members of the Accounting profession have contributed immensely to the development of the state and country.

Earlier in his speech, the National President of ANAN, Prof Mohammed Akaro Mainoma said they were in the state for a Mandatory Continuous Professional Development Program and Orientation/ Induction of new members where they will discuss issues centering on good governance and accountability and thanked the state government for providing an enabling environment for them to operate optimally.
