Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, has congratulated Dame Gladys Nne Nwafor on her 70th birthday, describing her as a perfect example of a woman with great strength, faith and resilience.
Speaking at a Thanksgiving service held yesterday at St. Clements Anglican Church Mbutu Umuojima-Ogbu Osisioma LGA, the Governor said Mrs Nwafor has through her life and activities, become a reference point of excellence in womanhood.
According to Ikpeazu, Nwafor who is the widow of a former two time Deputy Governor of Abia State, the Late Chima Nwafor, brought honor and integrity to public service by raising the standard of conduct by wives of top public officers
The Governor recalled with nostalgia the many years of dedicated service to the State and country by Dame Nwafor, ranging from being a teacher, two time Local Government Education Secretary, Member of the Governing Council of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Akwa, Board Member of the Federal Institute for Agricultural Research Ibadan and Federal Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Speaking on the topic “THAT WOMAN YOU GAVE ME” which he took from the book of Genesis 3 from verse 1, the Bishop of Aba-Ngwa Anglican Diocese, Rt Rev. Nathan Kanu, charged all men to rise and take responsibilities by providing for their families, adding that they would give account of their activities before the Lord.
