Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State says the state government will reconstruct Umuahia Township Stadium in order to increase sports development in the state.
Ikpeazu said this during an interview with newsmen, while reacting to the re-opening of the Enyimba International Stadium, in Aba.
He said that in no distant time the state government would reconstruct the Umuahia Township Stadium considering the benefits of a modern stadium.
The Governor stated that the Enyimba Stadium in Aba took about 2 years to complete and the project cost about N600 million. The turf is about 1.6million euros
He expressed satisfaction over the new Enyimba International Stadium, and added that the stadium was an indication that the painstaking planning and hard work invested in the project had paid off.
Ikpeazu said his administration is committed to delivering standard infrastructure that would touch the lives of the people of Abia and boost socioeconomic development.
