Abia State government inaugurates special Covid-19 Mobile Court


Abia State government has inaugurated a special Covid-19 Mobile Court to handle cases arising from non-compliance with the Covid-19 guidelines and policies in the State.

Inaugurating the court which has three Magistrates as heads covering the three zones of the state, yesterday, at the State High Court, Umuahia, the State Chief judge, Justice Onuoha Ogwe, said the mobile court was meant to handle cases arising as a result of the coronavirus pandemic in the state.

According to him, the focus would be on non-custodian sentences and should concentrate on those who breach the state’s Covid 19 law.

In an acceptance speech on behalf of others, Magistrate Lawrence Okite of Ohafia zone, promised to discharge their responsibilities to the best of their abilities and in line with the aspirations of the state government.

Correspondent Godwin Ike reports that others inaugurated include, Magistrate Emmanuel Ukaegbu in charge of Aba zone while Magistrate Chuks Nwankpa is in charge of Umuahia zone.
