February 24, 2021

Abia State Government has imposed a ban on Keke/Okada operations between 7pm and 7am in all major cities of the state starting from Tuesday, February 23, 2021.

It called for total vigilance and prompt information from citizens to ensure the arrest and prosecution of hoodlums who cause unrest in the state. The government called on banks and other vulnerable institutions to fortify security around their places of business while strongly advising all security formations in the state to remain on red alert until the situation is fully pacified.

It advised Law abiding citizens and visitors to go about their normal businesses while maintaining vigilance as measures have been put in place to ensure their safety.

The government expressed its continued support to security agencies, promising to provide them with whatever they need to foil the agenda of hoodlums in the state.

It called on community leaders to be vigilant, while urging parents and guardians to take more interest in the activities of their children and wards to avoid them falling prey to criminally minded individuals.

The statement was contained in a press released signed by Chief John Okiyi Kalu, Honorable Commissioner for Information, Abia State and made available to Magic FM yesterday.
