As part of efforts to curb ghost-worker syndrome among civil servants in Abia State, the management of the State Government House, Umuahia has carried out a one day internal Staff Auditing Exercise.
The exercise which took place yesterday at the Government house was the first of its series and would ascertain the staff strength including those receiving salaries without coming to work.
Speaking to journalists during the exercise, the Permanent Secretary Government House Umuahia, Elder Okechukwu Aguwa, stated that the exercise would help to flush out those who are not recognized staff.
Also speaking, the acting Director of Administration, Government House Umuahia, Chuka Agomuo, disclosed that the exercise would enable the management update its Nominal Roll as it would capture all civil servants in the establishment.
Correspondent Godwin Ike reports that the Staff Auditing involved the presentation of Offer of Appointment letters, Notification of Appointments and acceptance of Offer of Appointments, records of Service, Certificates of Academic qualifications, Birth Certificates, Local Government of origin Certificates and passport photographs.
