Aba South and Isikwuato local government area football teams yesterday recorded wins to progress to the Quarter Finals of the ongoing Abia Governor’s Cup.
In the first game of the day, Aba South came from two goals down to earn a 3-2 win over a disappointing Ukwa West LGA who wasted myriads of chances to seal victory early on.
The result would come as a huge relief for the Aba Boys who are touted as one of the contenders for the crown.
In the second game of the day, Obingwa local government were knocked out by a resilient Isikwuato 3-2 on penalties after the game ended 1-1 in regulation time.
The results confirm the quarter final line up with Umuahia South, Isiala Ngwa North, Umuahia North, Ummunneochi, Ohafia and Ukwa East among the teams already through to the last 8 of the competition.
The Competition takes a break today, with actions resuming tomorrow at the Umuahia Township Stadium.
