A 15 year old orphan from Obokwe-Asa, Ukwa West Local Govt Area of Abia State, Chinagorom Peter, has narrated his ordeal in the hands of one Emeka Nwogu, who molested him sexually and using him to beg for alms after taking him to Lagos in the guise of assisting him.
Narrating his ordeal to newsmen yesterday in Umuahia, Chinagorom revealed how he met the man who was unknown to him in Aba and who promised to assist him in furthering his education.
He revealed that on getting to Lagos the man started using him to beg for money in public places in a wheel barrow, suggesting that he was handicapped, while sexually molesting him at night.
The young boy further said it was after the man had slept with him on four occasions that he decided to report to the police in Lagos who took him to the hospital for medical attention and later arrested the said Emeka Nwogu, now detained in Kirikiri correctional centre.
Reacting on the incident, Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi- Kalu, said the Abia State Governor had directed his medical team to take care of the boy and ensure he is rehabilitated.
He also disclosed that the state Government was building a new rehabilitation home to accommodate the destitute, as well as a half way home facility built by Total oil which is ready for commissioning. On her part, Senior special Assistant to the Governor on Teenage Matters, Mrs. Chinemenma Umesiaka, called on those emotionally abused, to open up, as the Ikpeazu administration was committed to rehabilitating and taking care of them.
